Zeng Jing

Biography

Zeng Jing was born in Hengyang, Hunan province, in 1982. A 2005 art graduate of the Normal University, Jing moved to the township of Jingdezhen,  widely-regarded as China’s ceramics capital, in 2007 to further pursue her passion in art at the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute. There, she majored in a joint discipline of painting and ceramics under the guidance of Professor Li Lei Ying. She graduated in 2010 with a Master degree in Fine Arts.

One of the most promising talented young artists, Jing’s art exhibits minimalism. Her ceramic works follow mainly in the tradition of “Famille Rose” and “Blue and White”. Jing’s exquisite artistic expression on ceramics is quickly gaining attention. As a measure of her burgeoning talent, Jing’s works were well sought after by scholars and collectors even before her graduation from the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute.

Jing’s artistic expression on ceramics often finds inspiration in Mother Nature that is unfolding around her: from the breeze that caresses the flowers to the birds and insects that visit them. Each of her ceramic paintings is as much an exquisite physiological study of the flora and fauna being depicted as it is a momentary capture of their unfolding story in full emotional and kinetic dynamism.

Her exquisitely-balanced compositions, at times embracing daring expanses of empty spaces, has differentiate her from other ceramic artists. The use of the quintessential blue seen in a handful of her work so far offers an exciting hint of a refreshing take she may yet bring to the world of blue & whites.

What may well prove most satisfying to collectors of Zheng Jing’s ceramic paintings is that this most promising of young ceramic artists is still unheralded even as her aesthetic and exquisite command of the artistic language is self-evident . There is no doubt that her work will gain rapid popularity.
