Biography

Kuang Jun Min was born in Hengyang, Hunan province, in 1980. A member of the Hunan Artists Association, he graduated from the Normal University in the province with a Masters degree in Fine Arts in 2010. There, he studied under the guidance of the renowned oil painter, professor Qu Xiang Jian.

Jun Min moved to Jingdezhen in 2009 and had the privilege then to study ceramic arts under the tutelage of Professor Li Lei Ying. After much experimentation with the various media of ceramic arts, Jun Min decided to dedicate himself Flambé Glaze, the most difficult medium in ceramic arts.

Jun Min is quickly establishing a unique aesthetic signature in the Chinese ceramics art world, and in the Flambé Glaze medium in particular. With his background in oil paint, his work invokes an essentially western artistic expression in a medium that is historically Chinese. As is characteristic of the extreme-temperature firing that defines Flambé Glaze, his ceramic art often incorporates an element with an explosive colour palate within a wholly cohesive composition. A common motif in his current stage of development is the portrait, to better showcase his mastery of detail execution in the difficult and inherently unpredictable medium of Flambé Glaze.
